The PS2
Sony was the sixth generation of consoles video game and called PS2. It has exceeded all game console sales. It also has a huge library of games. PS2 is backward compatible and can play all the games you could play in previous versions. It also has the ability to play both CDs and DVDs. To be updated to play DVDs is one of the main factors in increasing sales. If I go online, then you have to buy a network adapter to support online multiplayer. Most games developed to access the online help PS2 broadband internet. The PS2 also has the ability to run Linux.
The PS3
The PS3 is bigger than all competitive products on the market. You have to go for an HDMI cable to play Blu-ray 1080p definition. You also have the option to buy digital optical audio cable to get the full effect of 7.1 audio channels. It's easy to start on the PS3. Except for a few games, the PS3 is backward compatible and not comes with original package.

PS2 vs PS3
There were plenty of things for the PS2 at launch. It was introduced at a time when no other competing products were in sight. In fact, the main reason for the high sales figures for PS2 does not play, but the provision of a player DVD was comparatively much cheaper than standalone DVD players. As a direct result of this provision, the hardware costs down. Manufacturers are forced to reduce prices.
But when Sony announced the PS3, the same factors that were not in favor of it. This time the competition from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. There has been a large increase in the cost of the PS3 that does not bode well for sales. The Blu-ray feature has been hit in the market with the introduction of HD-DVD, that offers better image quality. You also have to invest much more in additional hardware to buy the PS3. This adds to the already huge costs. Finally, PS3 no include any new features particular to talk about. Whereas, the PS3 was significantly better product than its predecessors.
So the PS3 seems to be losing out on the PS2. It's time Sony realized this and tried to repair the damage. Otherwise, the PS2 will remain in the driver `s seat, at least for now.
